Trees #55–57

Again, treetops in our backyard and our neighbor's yard, as
seen from my upstairs window. I was feeling very loose... 2-27-12

One of our Silver Maple trees in the backyard with ivy growing
at least 30 feet up the split trunk. In a windstorm, I think the ivy is
the only thing that holds the tree upright. Our Silver Maples seem
to be very brittle. 2-28-12

A portion of the tree across the street in our neighbor's front
yard, as seen from our bedroom window. In fact, I drew this
while still in bed! What a way to start the day! Some trees are
beginning to bud. Spring is on the way! 2-29-12

Trees #53–54

This is a flowering tree in our backyard, that unfortunately, I think,
is dead. Later this spring, we'll see. We had a searing 100+ summer
last year, and we weren't vigilant enough to keep the trees watered.
The lower branches are broken off, but do hold two bird feeders,
which I neglected to draw. I should go back and do that. 2-24-12

This is a dogwood tree outside our livingroom window. The weather has been warm, many daytime temps in the 50s, so it's beginning to bud. I probably should refine this sketch a little more, too. 2-25-12

Tree #52

OK, I made it up. 2-22-12

Trees #49–51

Again, backyard trees I see outside my upstairs window.
2-19-12

A Japanese Maple in our backyard as seen from our sunroom window.
2-20-12

My sketch of an interesting short, very wide tree
I photographed in the cemetery. I miscalculated on
my sketch and the top was off the page. 2-21-12

Tree #48

Just one section of a Red Bud tree in our front yard that has
suffered several large sections just breaking off. Now, it's very
lopisded. This third-to-fourth of the original tree is
now the largest part of what's left. Poor tree. 2-18-12

Tree #46–47

A portion of the Schefflera plant, which is almost
a tree, in our sunroom. 2-16-12

Just a tiny portion of the ivy that is growing up
the trunks of our huge silver Maple trees in our backyard.
This sketch didn't work out how I wanted,
but I'll keep trying... 2-17-12

Trees #44–45

I wanted to sketch the trees along Euclid Ave. or
Marlin Ave. Unfortunately, I didn't have a photo and couldn't
remember houses, intersections, what exactly was at the
end of the street, etc. so it's a bit generic... 2-13-12

Since it was in the high 40s today, I just had to get out,
so I walked to Lakeside Park around 4:30 pm.
Even in February, the park is beautiful. 2-14-12

Trees #42–43

That same oak(?) tree, still with its leaves, that I see outside
my upstairs window to the southwest. 2-11-12

Another tree outside our sunroom
window to the northwest. 2-12-12

Trees #40–41

A tree in our back yard as seen from my upstairs window.
The day was dark and gloomy, no sun. 2-9-12

This is the scene to the southwest of our sunroom window.
2-9-12 The tree in the foreground still has beautiful rust-colored
leaves. Could it be an oak? I need to check that out. I'm drawing
on-the-inside-looking-out during these days that are cold and windy.
But at least the sun was out and our sunroom was gloriously bright
and warm from the sunshine. I just can't get enough sun these days!

Trees #38–39

A twisted, knarled partly-dead crabapple tree
outside our sunroom window. 2-8-12
I just realized I've already drawn this tree.

The tops of bushes topped with a wet, heavy snow
outside our sunroom window. 2-7-12

Trees #35–37

This is that same one-sided tree in Lakeside Park
near our house. What can I say? 2-4-12

This is an experiment. 2-5-12

These are small holly trees in our backyard.
They're a bit spindly, but holding their own. 2-6-12

Tree #34

It was a foggy, rainy, gray day, so different from the day before.
This the northwest view from our sunroom window. Still experimenting
with colored pencil and watercolor wash. 2-3-12

Tree #33

The last day for sunny, warm weather, was yesterday, 2-2-12,
which is when I did this one of our backyard. Today, it is back to winter.

Trees #31–32

The weather has been uncommonly warm–60s and sunny,
so I took a walk in the nearby cemetery, found a nice bench,
and sketched away. It was delightful. 2-1-12

Just messing around with markers, pens,
watercolor pencils, watercolors. 1-31-12

Trees #27-30

This is a twig of the Ficus tree in our sunroom. 1-30-12

This is a tree from across the street that I can see from my bedroom window.
In fact, I sketched this in the morning while sitting up in bed.
Fun way to ease back into the waking world in the morning. 1-30-12

Just a quickie sketch again. This is almost a tree that is growing
in our sunroom. It's huge–this is just a branch or two. 1-28-12

Just a quickie on a hectic day. 1-27-12
