Tree #148–153

Yet another view of one of our Silver Maples
with branches sprouting around the lower
part of the trunk and a nameless
foliage at its base. 8-15-12

 Our tired-looking, drought-weary
Japanese Maple with lush, uninvited,
unauthorized, miscellaneous foliage. 8-17-12

Sorting files of useless papers for
what seemed like all day. 8-18-12

Sorting my stash of weaving yarns for
too many hours. 8-20-12

Enough sorting! Took off to do some biking and
did this from memory of the bridge across
Turkey Creek as it opens into Wall Park Lake.8-22-12

Went biking again and did this from memory
at the tired-end of the day,
by memory, of Euclid St. 8-23-12

Last page of the sketch book, just
some playing with layering primary colors
and adding water using watercolor
pencils. Colorful fun! 8-24-12

Trees #145–147

"Unauthorized foliage" (weeds?) at
the base of one of our backyard trees. 8-8-12
Another view of our crabapple
in the backyard. 8-10-12
The weather has been a little cooler, and I took
a long walk to Lakeside Park again, found an
empty bench, and sketched this
view of Turkey Creek. 8-13-12

Trees #140–144

I'm bored drawing the trees I can see from my window
and it's sooo hot to be outside. What a wimp I am.
This is inspired by a black & white photo in a book. 7-31-12
These are limp ivy vines clinging to a tree trunk
outside my upstairs window. We're having a
drought as well as 100-plus temps. My spirits
are as limp as the vines. I'm now thinking
this appears much too green... 8-1-12

A branch extending past the trunk of our tree
just outside my upstairs window. 8-5-12

Just playing around with watersoluble
colored pencils and ink. 8-6-12
More watersoluble colored pencils. 8-7-12

Trees #135–139

Scribbling my backyard Silver Maple trees
and bushes in the early evening. 7-28-12
My backyard trees as seen from my
upstairs window at dusk. 7-24-12
Certainly not a tree seen around here yet! I made it up.
Maybe it's longing for cooler autumn temps.
I'm tired of 100-plus weather. 7-25-12
A little bush. 7-26-12

Another tree trunk as seen from my upstairs window. 7-30-12

Tree #134

No one should try to identify the species—
I made it up, fast and furious. Felt good. 7-18-12

Trees #129–133

 A tree. 7-9-12

Scribbled a tree in our neighbor's backyard at dusk. 7-12-12

 A mini tree? 7-14-12

I walked around Wall Park Lake at dusk and stopped at a bench
to sketch this very large tree. (Top is not really shown.) It was dusk,
but I thought I'd just do a very quick one. But it got dark much
faster than I realized, or was I was there much longer than I realized?
Probably the latter. When I'm sketching, time gets away from me.
Finally, I had to quit, because I could barely see my page. 7-15-12

A few branches from our backyard pear tree. Somehow, the squirrels
haven't eaten them all yet. We better hurry to get them "harvested!" 7-17-12

Trees #127–128

View of the trees from the glider on our patio. 7-6-12

View at dusk of the backyard from inside our sunroom.
In the center is that poor dead pine tree. 7-7-12

Tree #125–126

This is a portion of the Redbud tree in the front yard
with foliage in the flower bed beneath. As can be seen
by the dates, I haven't done my sketch every single day.
But I'm consistently inconsistent. 6-28-12

This is my "contemplation" seat that I placed, just so, at the base
of one of the Silver Maples in the backyard. I've always
told myself, when I'm in a hurry and rushing to get somewhere,
I would sit there sometime when I had time. Now the
seat is very dirty, and I have never taken the time to go out
there with a rag. So, I have never sat in my "comtemplation"
seat... 7-2-12

Trees #119–124

Low foliage at the base of the trees. 6-13-12
Those same sapplings I sketched before at the base of
our Silver Maples in our backyard. 6-15-12
Just playing again with wet-into-wet watercolors
followed by colored pencil. 6-16-12
The view from our sunroom window of the
neighbor's backyard. 6-19-12
This is a tree across the street in a neighbor's side yard. 6-21-12
The middle portion of tree trunks in our backyard
I can see from my upstairs window. 6-26-12

Tree #114–118

A cluster of leaves on a low "tree" at the base
of one of our Silver Maples. 6-2-12

Layered tissue paper, matte
medium, and matte medium tinted with
water color. It was fun to play! 6-4-12

Just a quickie, still playing... 6-5-12

These are trees I could see across the street from the
VAAM gallery window. It was almost dusk, no customers,
almost closing time. 6-7-12

After a great day looking at fine arts and fine crafts at Smoky Hill River Festival in Salina, I was so hot and tired, I sat down to rest. No sketchbook with me again, but I found a piece of goofy paper and a ballpoint pen, and did this of the tree across from where I was sitting. 6-10-12

Tree #109–113

I took a walk to Lakeside Park and after
walking completely around the lake, I found
a bench by the water and sketched the tree before me
that was hanging over the water. 5-24-12

Just a quickie of the view to the northwest
of our backyard. 5-28-12
I walked around Lakeside Park lake almost at dusk, and
again sat on a park bench, but didn't take my sketchbook.
When I got home, I did this from memory. There are a few
ripples in the water I could put in....5-29-12
I was "in" all day, working at the VAAM gallery,
no sketcch book again, so did this from memory
later in the evening... 5-30-12
Another tree at Lakeside Park. What a resource
Lakeside Park is! I'm glad I live so close! 5-31-12

Trees #105–108

 A tree. 5-18-12

A dead tree in our backyard. 5-21-12

Another tree in our backyard. Good thing
we have a lot of them. 5-22-12

This was done at bedtime, by memory, of a flower bed
that I had weeded late in the afternoon. 5-23-12
